What We Have Here For You
Hearing Health Awareness And Sensitization Camps
Montfort Care conducts awareness and sensitisation camps in residential communities, hospitals, schools and NGOs.
It aims to provide awareness among parents, teachers and general public on the importance of early hearing screening, signs of hearing loss and treatment and services available for individuals with hearing loss.
We share knowledge about best practices around infant and early child care, importance of early identification and early intervention and addressing stigma and misconceptions around hearing loss.
The centre has tie ups with government hospitals, clinics and NGOs for partnerships, awareness camps and referrals.
Rehabilitation Services (Auditory Verbal Therapy & Speech Therapy Sessions)
A trained audiologist/ speech therapist/ auditory verbal therapist provides therapy services to children.
One to one Auditory Verbal Therapy (AVT)/ Speech Therapy/ Auditory Training sessions are provided to the children depending on their needs.
The therapy mainly aims to help children with hearing loss to make use of their residual hearing and talk and communicate effectively within their limits.
Early Identification Services (Screening & Diagnosing Hearing Loss)
A trained team of specialists conducts auditory screening & testing for children in the age group 0 – 6 years to check for hearing ability.
Screening is done at various hospitals, clinics and at the centre.
Some of the tests used are: Pure Tone Audiometry, Speech Audiometry, Immittance Audiometry, Otoacoustic Emission Test (OAE), Auditory Brainstem Response Audiometry (ABR).
If a child has hearing impairment, information obtained from the hearing screening is used to plan for further diagnostic tests and the necessary medical/ audiological intervention.
Parent Counselling & Parent Infant Programme
During the full testing procedure at Montfort Care Centre, all the parents are very well informed and counselled during each and every step of the child’s screening, testing and rehabilitation.
Counselling at all stages helps parents accept the diagnosis, treatment options, hearing devices and recognise their child’s potential and support the child through therapy and education.
The parent infant programme helps parents communicate orally with the children and increases their exposure and acquisition of oral language. Training parents to interact and encourage the child’s use of language maximises child’s progress.
School Readiness Programme
Special educator works closely with a child with hearing loss to build foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
Children as well as parents are guided and provided with additional help required for school readiness behaviour so that the child can be mainstreamed or with more help be integrated in schools.
Prescribing Hearing Devices (Hearing Aids & Cochlear Implants) & Medical Linkages
After different tests, children are prescribed hearing aids depending on the degree and type of hearing loss.
Hearing aid trials are carried out by Audiologist. After different tests, the best suited hearing aid is dispensed to the children at subsidized rates.
If a child doesn’t show benefit even with hearing aid, they are further considered for other hearing devices like Cochlear Implants.
If children require hearing devices other than hearing aids (for e.g. Cochlear Implants), they are referred to different professionals for further procedure.
If any children have other additional disabilities/ require additional help, appropriate referrals are made to other professionals.

We do newborn hearing
1
Hearing Screening for newborns is a simple, painless test that can be done for infants immediately after birth or preferably within the first nine months.
2
Screening helps detect any hearing problems, however minor if they exist which can affect the overall development of a child.
3
If tested, we can be sure about the hearing abilities of the child and administer timely ear care to ensure their normal overall development.
