The Stephen High School for the Deaf and Aphasic
A place to learn and grow together
The school was founded in Mumbai in 1957 and has 61years of experience of working in the hearing disabilities space.
The Stephen School for the Deaf and Aphasic was founded in Mumbai in 1957 with a single teacher offering speech training for only a handful of deaf students. Under the management of The Montfort Society, the school has expanded to 12 classrooms serving 70 children annually and their families, providing a comprehensive special education for children with hearing impairment. Targeted curriculum and speech training offer a way for hearing impaired children to participate in a hearing world and prepares them for the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) examination of Maharashtra State Board.
The Stephen School envisions a future where hearing impairment ceases to restrict a child’s opportunity for success. With the focus on giving children the tools they need to overcome barriers created by their disability, they have started an early intervention centre in 2018.
